Film, Television and New Media offers the opportunity for students to develop teamwork, problem solving skills, project management, filming and editing skills as they produce media productions. They also develop critical literacy skills enabling them to think, question, and express ideas when designing media and analysing and evaluating media.
Future pathways include director, script writer, editor, film and TV camera operator, producer, teacher, film critic
Junior Secondary
In Years 7 & 8 students are able to select Film & Television as a one semester elective a part of their compulsory Art curriculum offering. In Years 9 & 10, students can choose a year long elective in Film and Television
Senior Secondary
In Years 11 and 12, student can choose General/ATAR pathway.
GENERAL
Film, Television and New Media uses an inquiry learning model, developing critical thinking skills
and creative capabilities through the exploration of five key concepts that operate in the contexts
of production and use. The key concepts of technologies, representations, audiences, institutions
and languages are drawn from a range of contemporary media theories and practices.
