The Ipswich State High School is one of the largest school-based Registered Training Organisations in Queensland, offering over 30 nationally recognised certificate courses, but was also acknowledged in 2019 as the most successful school RTO in the State by the Minister for Employment and Small Business and Minister for Training and Skills Development.
We were the first school in Australia to provide a retail Hair and Beauty service to members of the public from its own commercial salon on the school site.
Ipswich State High School is the home of the $5 million Ipswich Regional Trade Training Centre acknowledged for best practice in a teaching and learning of Vocational Education in schools, $10 million X Block Performing Arts Centre and new state of the art STEM centre.
We are the only school in the Metropolitan Region offering a Cert I, Cert II and Cert III dance qualifications and the QCAA General Dance courses.
Ipswich High has a dedicated Student Support Faculty that aims to develop a safe, supportive and inclusive school environment through the provision of support services such as Young Families Connect, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Hub, Alternative Learning Centre and FlexiSpace. We are als acknowledged to be one of the leading schools in the Metropolitan Region in promoting and developing the importance of Diversity and Inclusion for all students. This includes, but is not limited to, supporting those students struggling with mental health concerns, refugee families and others who also come from a non-English speaking background, Young Mums, and those who identify as being a member of the LGBTIQ+ community.
