Students who attend Ipswich State High School have access to a wide range of sporting opportunities, allowing them to participate, compete, and excel as part of a proud and successful sporting culture.
CISSSA (Combined Ipswich Secondary School Sport Association)
ISHS is a member of CISSSA, offering weekly and gala day competitions against other secondary schools across Ipswich and surrounding districts. With both summer and winter seasons available, students can choose from a variety of sports.
CISSSA provides a fantastic opportunity for students to try something new or continue developing their skills in a fun, inclusive, and competitive environment. Students represent the school alongside their peers, building teamwork and school pride. Teams that perform strongly in the CISSSA competition may progress to the SEQ Metropolitan Finals, providing an opportunity to compete at a higher level.
Representative Sport
Ipswich SHS is affiliated with Western Ranges School Sport (district level) and Metropolitan West School Sport (regional level), providing clear pathways for students to extend their sporting abilities.
Through these programs, students can trial and compete in a wide range of team and individual sports. ISHS has a strong record of success in representative sport, with over 80 students selected in one or more Metropolitan West teams in 2025 — highlighting the talent, commitment, and strength of our sporting programs.
Sport at ISHS is about more than just competition — it's about building confidence, developing teamwork, and creating positive and rewarding experiences for all students.
