Students will develop their skills, knowledge and understanding in listening, speaking, reading, viewing and writing.
Through the study of English, students will develop confidence in communicating in a variety of forms as they analyse various types of texts in order to broaden their knowledge of the world they live in. English will prepare students for future education, training and employment opportunities. Students will use the knowledge and skills developed through their English studies in every facet of life. English enables students to be active participants in society.
Junior Secondary
English is a core subject that all students in years 7-10 must undertake.
Students continue to develop their listening, speaking, reading, viewing and writing skills as they respond to various texts in a variety of ways.
Senior Secondary
English offers two strands across the senior years of 11 and 12.
English: for students seeking an OP score for tertiary entrance
English Communication: students who are not seeking an OP score or those who are not confident in the literary component of English.
