Ipswich Newsletter Header.jpgLetter from The Principal

Our Ipswich State High School students once again demonstrated what it means to be respectful and responsible members of our community through their participation in ANZAC commemorations. At our school service on Friday 24 April, students showed outstanding respect, engagement and maturity as we honoured those who have served and continue to serve our nation. Their conduct throughout the ceremony reflected the values we strive to build every day.

This pride extended beyond our school gates, with students representing Ipswich SHS at services across the Ipswich region. Whether marching, delivering speeches or providing musical performances, our students conducted themselves with dignity and professionalism. They were outstanding ambassadors for our school and a credit to their families and our community.

These moments are a powerful reminder that our young people are not only learners in the classroom but active contributors to the community. They understand the importance of honouring tradition, showing respect and stepping forward with confidence when called upon.

We look forward to continuing to celebrate these qualities at our upcoming SRC and Year 12 Induction Ceremony on Friday 8 May. This event will recognise student leaders who exemplify the same values of respect, responsibility and service to others.

Safe Travel to and From School

The safety and wellbeing of our students is a shared responsibility, and we appreciate the way the vast majority of our young people travel to and from school in safe, respectful and responsible ways. They represent our school with pride in the community each day.

However, we do regularly receive complaints from members of the public, often accompanied by photos or videos, of students behaving in ways that are irresponsible, disrespectful and at times illegal while in school uniform. Each of these matters is taken seriously and followed up by the school, with appropriate consequences applied in line with our expectations.

We ask all parents and carers to reinforce with their young people the importance of respectful and responsible conduct when travelling to and from school. Wearing the school uniform in the community carries a responsibility to uphold our standards and values.

We also remind families of our drop-off and pick-up procedures. Designated areas are located on Hunter Street at the front of the school and Vogel Road at the rear. Parents and carers should not enter the school grounds to drop off students unless this has been pre-approved by the relevant Year Level Deputy Principal due to mobility needs. For safety reasons, please do not enter or park in the bus zone on Vogel Road.

Cold Weather Uniform Reminder

As the weather begins to cool, now is the time to get organised with winter uniforms.

We encourage families to get in early to avoid the rush and ensure students are fully prepared for the term ahead.

Our Uniform Shop is open during term time:
• Monday, Tuesday and Friday
• 8.00am to 8.30am

The Uniform Shop is located beneath A Block, with EFTPOS available, and online orders can also be placed via the QKR app.

A reminder that Ipswich State High School is a uniform school, and students are expected to wear the correct uniform with pride each day. Upholding our uniform standards supports a positive school culture and ensures students are ready to learn.

Fortnightly Focus

Our final Focus of the Fortnight for the term centres on Responsibility.

As we move towards the end of term, this focus reminds our students to finish strong by taking pride in their spaces and their learning. Something as simple as tidying up your classroom reflects respect for others and ownership of your environment.

We would like to thank our students for the way they have continued to demonstrate our school values of Respect and Responsibility throughout the term. Your efforts do not go unnoticed and contribute to a positive and supportive school community for everyone.

Let's finish the term strong, together.
