Letter from The Principal
The 2026 Ipswich State High School Rugby League Season officially launched on Wednesday evening with a fantastic celebration of our proud rugby league tradition and the exciting season ahead.
Students, families, staff, sponsors and community members gathered to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of our players and coaches as they prepare to represent Ipswich State High School throughout 2026. A highlight of the evening was hearing from special guest speaker Shalom Sauaso, former Ipswich State High School student, Schoolgirls National Champion and one of the rising stars of women's Rugby League. Shalom shared her journey, reflected on her time at ISHS and encouraged our students to embrace every opportunity both on and off the field.
Thank you to all staff, coaches, sponsors, families and supporters who continue to contribute to the strength of our Rugby League Program. We look forward to an exciting season ahead and wish all our teams the very best for the 2026 competition season.
School Closed Tomorrow
A reminder that School is closed tomorrow, Friday the 15th of May, due to the Ipswich Show public holiday.
Winter Uniform Reminder
As we move towards the cooler winter months, I would also like to remind families that appropriate school uniform items are available through the Uniform Shop. Students may wear approved navy school jumpers and jackets during winter. Navy tracksuit pants are also an acceptable winter uniform item. Please note that leggings are not an approved uniform item unless they are being worn underneath a skirt. We appreciate the support of families in ensuring students continue to meet our school uniform expectations.
Looking Ahead
Upcoming Events

Child Safe Workshop
Child safety expectations in Australia have changed, and many organisations are adjusting to what these new requirements mean in practice.
To support our community, Ipswich State High School will be hosting a free Child Safe Workshop on Monday 8th June at 4.30pm, led by Dr Caroline Blackley, whose research focuses on helping organisations create safer environments for children.
This workshop is designed to give parents, carers, and community members a clear understanding of the updated Child Safe Standards and how they help protect young people. The session is practical, easy to follow, and focused on real‑world steps that schools and organisations can take to strengthen child safety.
What you'll learn:
- What has changed in the Child Safe Standards
- How organisations are expected to respond
- What strong child safety practice looks like
- How families and communities can play a role
There is no jargon and no complicated language, just clear, helpful guidance to support safer environments for every child.

Our Athletics Carnival is coming up, with Years 10 to 12 competing on Friday 19th of June and Years 7 to 9 on Thursday 25th of June. SRC Cookie Fundraising
Support our SRC through the Billy G's Gourmet Cookie Dough fundraiser. Funds raised will go towards the Year 12 Legacy Item, a gift from our graduating student leaders to the school community.
With heaps of delicious flavours available and tubs just $22 each, we're aiming to sell 150 tubs across Weeks 4–6. Junior students will receive order forms in CSI, while students in Years 10–12 will receive an online ordering link via email.
Safe Travel to and From School
The safety and wellbeing of our students is a shared responsibility, and we thank the vast majority of students who travel to and from school in safe, respectful and responsible ways each day. From time to time, the school receives complaints from members of the public regarding student behaviour in uniform, including incidents supported by photos or videos. These matters are taken seriously and followed up in line with school expectations. We ask all parents and carers to continue reinforcing the importance of respectful conduct in the community. Families are also reminded to use the designated drop off and pick up areas on Hunter Street and Vogel Road, and not to enter school grounds or the Vogel Road bus zone unless prior approval has been provided due to mobility needs.
Fortnightly Focus
Our next Focus of the Fortnight is Responsibility.
Next fortnight, we are encouraging all students to be SWITCHed on to learning by bringing their laptop to school every day, ensuring it is charged and ready to support their learning in every lesson. Being prepared for learning is an important part of showing responsibility and setting yourself up for success.
