Letter from The Principal
Building Consistency Through 4D
Over the past fortnight, Ipswich State High School has participated in a whole-school 4D Scan, with 125 teachers observed in their classrooms and subsequently engaging in individual reflection sessions with a trained 4D coach.
The 4D Framework focuses on a set of high-yield teaching skills and strategies that support the development of strong learning routines. These practices help create classrooms that are safe, supportive, predictable and calm, enabling students to engage more effectively in their learning and achieve success.
The classroom observations were not evaluative in nature. Instead, they provided teachers with an opportunity to reflect on their current practice, celebrate strengths and identify areas for continued growth. The individual coaching conversations that followed each observation were highly valued by staff and reinforced our commitment to professional learning and continuous improvement.
At Ipswich State High School, we recognise that high-quality teaching has the greatest impact on student outcomes. We are committed to investing in the capability of our staff through ongoing professional learning, coaching and feedback processes. The 4D Scan is one of several strategies we use to strengthen teaching practice and ensure all students experience consistent, engaging and supportive learning environments across our school.
