A Fantastic Start to Term 3

The first three weeks of Term 3 have been incredibly busy, productive and full of opportunities for our students to learn, connect and celebrate.

We began the term by recognising NAIDOC Week, with a range of activities that celebrated the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It was wonderful to see so many students and staff embracing the week with enthusiasm and respect.

Week 2 saw us proudly host our 30th Nerima Sister City Study Tour, welcoming students and staff from Nerima, Japan. The friendships formed, cultural experiences shared and memories created throughout the week once again highlighted the value of this longstanding partnership and the global opportunities it provides for our students.

This week has been equally busy, with Parent Teacher Interviews, JET Planning, SET Planning and Year 11 Unit 1 Review Meetings, providing valuable opportunities for families and staff to work together to support student success. We have also enjoyed the excitement of home Rugby League fixtures for our Open Boys and Open Girls teams, with our school community once again turning out in great numbers to support our students.

While the pace eases slightly over the coming weeks, the spotlight now turns to the Performing Arts. We look forward to our Variety Concert taking place tonight and our school production, Unfiltered, on Friday 7th and Friday 14th August. We encourage our community to come along and celebrate the outstanding talent, creativity and dedication of our students and staff.

Fortnightly Focus

Focus of the Fortnight: Responsibility

At Ipswich State High School, responsibility means making safe and positive choices every day. Whether it's being where you're meant to be, arriving prepared for learning, or making decisions that support yourself and those around you, responsibility is an important part of creating a safe and respectful school community.

This fortnight, we encourage all students to take ownership of their choices and demonstrate responsibility by being in the right place at the right time and making safe decisions throughout the school day.

Respect and Responsibility. Every day, in every space.
