Junior Secondary
This is a compulsory subject in years 7-10, and forms part of the Australian National Curriculum. It teaches students how to enhance their own and others’ health, safety, wellbeing and physical activity participation in varied and changing contexts. Students obtain knowledge, understanding and skills to strengthen their sense of self, and build and manage satisfying relationships. Movement is a powerful medium for learning, through which students can acquire, practise and refine personal, behavioural, social and cognitive skills
Senior Secondary
HPE Extension- Year 10
Provides students with a taste of senior subjects- Recreation and Physical Education.
Physical Education (Authority)
Involves students learning in, about and through physical activity. Physical Education focuses on the complex interrelationships between motor learning, psychological, biomechanical, physiological and sociological factors that influence individual and team physical performances, together with the wider social attitudes and understandings of physical activity.
Recreation (SAS)
Aims to develop student's knowledge of leisure and the Sport and Recreation field. Students will have the opportunity to develop skills that encourage lifelong participation in sport and develop leadership skills in the Sport and Recreation field. Recreation also allows students to increase awareness and understanding of the role leisure and recreation play in the community.
SIS20313 Certificate II in Sport & Recreation (VET pathway)
Allows students to gain knowledge and skills associated with the Sport & Recreation industry, with a specific emphasis on coaching. It is designed for people seeking a career pathway into the Sport & Recreation industry. The program is sports-specific to Volleyball and Football.
SIS20513 Certificate II in Sports Coaching (VET pathway)
Allows students to gain knowledge and skills associated with the Sport & Recreation industry, with a specific emphasis on coaching. It is designed for people seeking a career pathway into the Sport & Recreation industry. The program is sports-specific to Football. SIS30321 Certificate III in Fitness (VET pathway)
Allows students to gain knowledge and skills associated with the Fitness and training. Students plan and deliver fitness programs within the school community, catering to a range of clients. It is designed for people seeking a career pathway into the Fitness industry. (External RTO provider- Binnacle Training RTO 31319).
Ipswich SHS, as Third Party, will be providing training and assessment services on behalf of Binnacle Training (RTO Code 31319).
