Letter from The Principal
The 2026 Broncos Cup season is officially underway, and this year marks an exciting milestone for Ipswich State High School. For the first time ever, ISHS will host our premier Rugby League games on our very own front oval, bringing the excitement and energy of Broncos Cup football directly into the heart of our school community. Over recent months, significant work has gone into preparing the field, including the installation of new goal posts and careful preparation of the playing surface to ensure it is game ready.
We are incredibly excited to welcome students, families, staff and community members to support our teams at home throughout the season. Home games will be held on Wednesday 3 June, Wednesday 10 June and Wednesday 5 August, and we encourage our community to come along and cheer on our students as they proudly represent the school.
In Week 2 we also recognised Guidance Officer Week and acknowledged the outstanding work of our three dedicated Guidance Officers, Cameron Turton, Kelly Cox and Rebecca Gilmore. Next week we will celebrate Chaplaincy Week and recognise the valuable contribution of our dedicated Chaplain, Jaida Perry-Jill, who provides ongoing care and support to our students each day.

Upcoming Events

Child Safe Workshop
Child safety expectations in Australia have changed, and many organisations are adjusting to what these new requirements mean in practice.
To support our community, Ipswich State High School will be hosting a free Child Safe Workshop on Monday 8th June at 4.30pm, led by Dr Caroline Blackley, whose research focuses on helping organisations create safer environments for children.
This workshop is designed to give parents, carers, and community members a clear understanding of the updated Child Safe Standards and how they help protect young people. The session is practical, easy to follow, and focused on real‑world steps that schools and organisations can take to strengthen child safety.
What you'll learn:
- What has changed in the Child Safe Standards
- How organisations are expected to respond
- What strong child safety practice looks like
- How families and communities can play a role
There is no jargon and no complicated language, just clear, helpful guidance to support safer environments for every child.

Fortnightly Focus
Our Focus of the Fortnight is Responsibility.
Next fortnight, we are encouraging students to take ownership of their learning by recognising when they need support and having the confidence to seek it. Being responsible does not mean doing everything alone, it means making positive choices, asking questions, accepting feedback and using the support around us to keep moving forward.
By showing responsibility in the classroom and across the school, students can continue earning SWITCH points and demonstrating what it means to be respectful and responsible learners at Ipswich State High School.
