Dance Program of Excellence

Program Overview

Our dance excellence program provides students with various opportunities, tailored to their goals and experience. We regularly connect with industry professionals and local businesses to learn with and from successful artists. We also facilitate a number of workshops with local dance businesses and choreographers.

Our students compete locally, across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and sometimes inter-state. Our Dance excellence program is the only school in the Metropolitan Region which offer a Cert II and Cert III dance qualification, as well as QCAA General Dance courses.

We continue to provide opportunities for all students regardless of financial status or dance experience and maintain high expectations for all students. We are an inclusive program that supports students of all abilities and experience.

Dance Excellence Teams

ISHS has 7 Dance Excellence Teams comprised of up to 200 students from grades 7-12 who perform and compete across Queensland. These students develop their dance performance, technical skills as well as their discipline and commitment to their team through performance opportunities locally.

Students in these teams are supported by our sponsors who offer financial support to students selected through audition and interview. Each of these teams involves a financial cost to cover costuming, competition registration and travel.
