The Young Families Connect Outreach Program is based on a vision of education which embraces the needs, hopes and aspirations of young pregnant and parenting students, regardless of their access to local flexible learning solutions.
The YFC Outreach Program provides vulnerable students under the age of 24yrs, regardless of where they reside throughout Queensland, the opportunity to continue or re-engage in education through a supportive, flexible working approach.
The program designs unique, individual and flexible education pathway plans for students, regardless of the educational opportunities available for the students locally.
The Young Families Connect Outreach Program provides flexible delivery of learning and content toward the receipt of a Queensland Certificate of Education and certified competency-based training (see Courses & Programs).
The program links with external agencies for local advocacy and support (see Partnerships).
No matter where students reside or their circumstances, all young pregnant and parenting students have the opportunity to succeed through the YFC Outreach Program. Students will develop the necessary skills and personal strength needed to become marketable and employable in the future, thereby assisting young people to become financially independent.
How does it work? Students may:
- Work from home with the educational support of their YFC Outreach teacher and assistance from local community organisations. Students do not need to be enrolled in a secondary school to access this program.
- Remain at a local high school and engage in a dual enrolment with Ipswich SHS and/or support through local community groups / organisations.
