The Rugby League Excellence program has been created to provide an Elite pathway for rugby league players to develop their skills whilst at school.
At Ipswich State High School our program is underpinned by the values, honest, humble and hardworking. All our students are committed to these values both on the field, in the classroom and within the local community. All our students have access to a wide range of resources in order to fulfil their potential and achieve success both on and off the field. As a program we boast over 50 Met West Rugby League players over the last 3 years and a further 26 players signing in NRL contracts in the last 7 years.
As part of the Rugby League Excellence program, all students are required to complete a Certificate III in Sport and Recreation in senior years. As a school, we endeavour to ensure that all students in the program can find the individual academic pathway through a broad range of subjects including school-based apprenticeships, traineeships as well as tertiary pathways. Students are also encouraged and supported in their participation in a range of additional extra-curricular activities.
Anyone with an interest in playing Rugby League can join as there is also a Development program aligned with the elite pathway. All our elite teams from Year 7 to Opens compete in the prestigious Broncos Cup competitions, whilst all our Development teams compete in the local CISSSA and Metropolitan competitions.
Students will get the opportunity to do timetabled lessons that include on field and weights/resistance training, utilising our gym. Elite students will also get the chance to review their match performances via our video analysis program and receive feedback from the number of experienced coaches.
As a program, we endeavour to provide a safe, supportive environment for your child to grow and learn to reach their full potential both on the football field and in the classroom.
