Temporary Teacher Aide (TA002) Position
Refugee Support Program
​Applications are invited for the position of Temporary Teacher Aide for our Refugee Support Program, working face-to-face delivering Literacy and Numeracy support and classroom support – 25 hours per week (Monday - Friday).

The position is effective from 5 February 2018 to 13 July 2018 with strong possibility of extension.  

You will have responsibility for the delivery of the following key tasks, whilst displaying the following skills:

  • Assisting in the supervision of education activities, under the direction of a teacher
  • Working face-to-face with students both individual and the classroom setting 
  • Displaying respect and empathy for students with learning needs
  • Displaying confidentiality, tact, reliability and sensitively to students and their families
  • Supporting students with language tuition
  • Supporting students with literacy, numeracy and reading development
  • Provide homework assistance
  • Interpreting role between student’s home and school community
  • Maintaining anecdotal records on students for use in reviewing student’s development
  • Assist in tracking student academic achievement and attendance
  • Developing culturally appropriate education materials 
  • Teacher aide general classroom support
  • Clerical assistance duties including typing teachers' notes and work programs, duplicating/photocopying teaching materials, checking bus lists, collation and duplication of exam papers, recording of examination results, compiling students results records, marking rolls, assisting in organising off-site activities
  • Assisting in preparing, storing, making available and clearing away teaching equipment and materials
  • Communicating effectively and displaying high level of interpersonal skills to function as an effective team member within the school community
  • Undertake playground/bus supervision when required
