Information Technology

Digital Technologies provides students with practical opportunities to use design thinking and to be innovative developers of digital solutions and knowledge. The subject helps students to become innovative creators of digital solutions, effective users of digital systems and critical consumers of information conveyed by digital systems.

Digital Technologies provides students with authentic learning challenges that foster curiosity, confidence, persistence, innovation, creativity, respect and cooperation. These are all necessary when using and developing information systems to make sense of complex ideas and relationships in all areas of learning. Digital Technologies helps students to be regional and global citizens capable of actively and ethically communicating and collaborating.

Junior Secondary

 
Year 7 and 8 students can select to study two ICT subjects; Digital Technologies   and/or Computer Science.  
 

Digital Technologies teaches students how to operate a range or software applications and hardware to produce outcomes in demand by industry.

Projects include:

  • digital animation
  • website development
  • three dimensional modelling
  • image manipulation
 
Computer Science teaches students about computer languages. Robotics and coding are the core focus of this course.
 
Projects include:
 
  • Minecraft programming
  • game development
  • robotics programming

 

Year 9 students can elect to study an Information Communication and Technologies course which encompasses both aspects of Digital Technologies and Computer Science.

Senior Secondary

 

In the senior phase of schooling, students have the opportunity to select an Authority Subject or VET pathway within Digital Technologies.

 

Year 10 students can elect to study Information, Communication Technologies course which encompasses both aspects of Digital Technologies and Computer Science or ICT10115 Certificate I in Information Digital Media and Technology.

 

Year 11 & 12

Authority Subject: Information Technology Systems (ITS).

VET pathway: ICT20115 Certificate II in Information Digital Media and Technology
