Junior School Subject Selection Overview 2010
Certificate I in Work Education and Work Experience
Yr 11 and Yr 12 students are now enrolled in Certificate 1 in Work Education. Successful completion of this certificate will give students 2 points towards their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). This Certificate requires Yr 11 students to complete work experience in Terms 2 and 3 of this year at an employer of their choice as well as complete several theory units at school. Students are being assisted with this through their Access classes each week. Students who are completing a School-Based Traineeship or Apprenticeship are not required to attend additional work experience.
Students must find their own placement in an industry of their choice, however, Mrs Zampech and Mrs Clark are very happy to help any students who are having difficulty finding an employer. Students are encouraged to visit Mrs Zampech in A block during break times to look at the books of employers who have offered our students work experience in the past.
It is important that the work experience legal agreement forms are completed prior to the commencement of the work experience to ensure that students are covered by Education Queensland’s insurance.
Students will also be given a log book before they start their first placement. Students must keep their log book as this is a valuable part of their work history and provides evidence for the Certificate.
Dates for work experience for 2009 are:
Term 2 Wednesday 22 April 2009 to Wednesday 10 June 2009
Term 3 Wednesday 22 July 2009 to Wednesday 9 September 2009
