Over the past few months the Year 11 and 12 Building & Construction classes, led by Mr Jesse, have been increasing their skills in concreting by working on a school enhancement project. This involves developing the garden between A and B blocks into another seating area for lunch. The concreting began in April, and has progressed very quickly since then.

When Mr Jesse was asked about the work effort of the students he replied "The students are very self-motivated. They always have their own task to do, and because of this they work very efficiently." "The students are also learning valuable work skills whilst they are working on it, as if they were doing an actual concreting project in the workforce." He believes that the finished project will be very beneficial to all students at Ipswich High, as it will give them an additional place to relax and converse with each other.

Mr Jesse expects the concreting project to be completed by the September holidays, and afterwards they will continue to other parts of the development, such as laying down stencil for attractiveness, and adding tables and seats. All tables will also have their own rubbish bin to promote cleanliness and ultimately keep the area clean.
